What is Memorial Day? 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is a national holiday in the United States, observed on the last Monday of May. In 2025, it falls on Monday, May 26.

This important day honors the men and women of the U.S. military who lost their lives while serving the country.

In American schools, children learn about Memorial Day as an important part of U.S. history and culture. For families who have lost loved ones in military service, it is a solemn and meaningful time to reflect and remember. Across the country, people visit cemeteries, attend memorial services, or participate in parades.

At the same time, for many others, Memorial Day is also viewed as the unofficial start of summer—a long weekend for rest, travel, and spending time with family and friends. It’s common to see barbecues, picnics, and outdoor activities.

At Bluedata International Institute as the best English Language School in Manhattan, New York City, we believe it's important for international students to not only study English but also to learn about American culture.

Understanding holidays like Memorial Day helps students improve English fluency, expand cultural awareness, and become more connected to the community around them.

➡️ Reminder: Bluedata will be closed on Sunday, May 25 and Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday.
