Updated: Apr 8, 2025

One Mistake Could Cost You Your Visa – Read This Now!

Immigration rules are getting stricter under the new Trump administration, and more students could face serious visa issues—even deportation. At Bluedata, we want to make sure this doesn’t happen to you.

A Real Case: The Importance of Proper Documentation

Last Friday April 4th, we received an urgent call from an the US Border Protection officer at JFK Airport informing us that one of our students had arrived in the U.S. with a terminated I-20. The officer made it clear that if Bluedata could not confirm the student’s enrollment status immediately, the student could have been deported.

Our DSO (Designated School Official) and student counselor acted quickly to verify the student’s status and provide the necessary documentation. Thankfully, the situation was resolved, and the student was able to enter the U.S. safely. Bluedata always to our best to protect our students visa status.

What This Means for You

This incident is a strong reminder that students, student counselors, and the DSO must communicate closely and in a timely manner—especially when traveling in and out of the U.S.

Under the current administration, immigration enforcement is stricter than ever. Even a small mistake, such as traveling with an expired or terminated I-20, can lead to serious consequences, including possible deportation.

How to Protect Yourself

To avoid any issues with immigration, please follow these important steps:

Check your I-20 status before traveling. If you are unsure, ask your student counselor or DSO. Keep your documents updated. Always ensure your I-20, visa, and passport are valid. Inform Bluedata before traveling. If you plan to leave the U.S. and return, let us know in advance. We suggest you to keep your ORIGINAL I-20 signed by DSO. Follow immigration rules carefully. The new administration is enforcing regulations strictly, so never take risks with your visa status.

Bluedata will continue to support our students, but we also urge all students to take responsibility for their visa compliance. By working together and staying informed, we can ensure your studies in the U.S. continue without any problems.

If you have any questions or concerns about your visa status, please contact our DSO or student counselors immediately.

Stay safe, stay informed, and let’s work together to protect your future!
